Jeff Fox..My Story..

I thought it would be only fair to share a bit more about myself and my story.  I really do believe our stories help define our future.  Both the joyous and painful events in our lives shape us, refine us, and help us define more sharply what is really important to us.  The longer we live, the more we learn, and the more we understand what really makes our clocks tick. I really do love to hear people's stories, so now its time to lay out mine. I grew up in California in a town of about 50,000 people in the San Francisco Bay area.  I spend a good deal of my childhood  outside, building forts, catching polliwogs, riding dirt bikes, etc.  I loved the outdoors and that has been a staple in my life ever since.  In school I was active in sports, especially running and soccer.  These two sports would stay with me well into college.  I grew up in a church home, and being connected to church is still a big part of my life.  It centers me, and reminds me that ultimately I answer to something much bigger than myself.

After High School, I attended Westmont College and majored in Communication Studies.  My wife would say I majored in "Social Studies" because I was so darn social, but I did actually study.  I met my wife, Leslie, my freshman year of college, but we did not end up dating until our senior year.  After a great 4 years, I graduated, got engaged and married and moved to the mid-west to work with a youth ministry organization called K-Life.  We spent the first 6 years of our married life with a bunch of middle school and high school kids running around our home, breaking things, getting in pillow fights, going on camping trips, and basically having a great time.  I then went to seminary, thinking I would be a pastor at a church.  After 3 years of study, and many hours leading a College/Young Adult group called Damascus Road, we  moved to Colorado. Instead of heading into a pastoral position, I worked at a camp and conference center called Horn Creek Conference Center.  I directed several different programs including the recreation program, the young adult internship, the lodging and dining facilities, and the summer staff program.  It was an amazing 5 years of living on the side of a mountain in the middle of no where, hosting groups of folks from all over the country.  It was so fun to introduce them to the beauty of the Colorado outdoors, and watch them grow and learn.

During this season, I began buying and selling rental properties as a hobby as well.  Growing up with a dad as a realtor, it was kind of in my blood.  I always loved the real estate process; buying something and transforming into a place that people would like.  As a result, when our time at the camp came to an end, I decided to jump into real estate full time.  We spent a lot of time thinking  through our life, our experiences, our passions. We got out a map of Colorado and started to name some places we wanted to live.  We further narrowed down the list and finally settled on Golden, Colorado.  Golden made sense to us for several reasons.  Leslie and I wanted to be near a college since we like hosting college students in our home.  We also wanted an outdoor oriented community, as that has always been a big part of our life.  We also loved the mountains and wanted to be as close as we could to skiing, hiking, etc.  Lastly, we wanted a smaller community close to the amenities of a larger city, and Golden fit the bill.

My first 4 years were at Century 21 in Golden, I went from being the new guy to leading the office in sales my final two years, receiving the Masters Centurion and Quality Service awards in 2013.  In 2014, I was also awarded the 5280 Magazine Five Star Award for excellent customer service.  In the fall of 2014 I moved over to Keller Williams Avenues and started my own small team called The Fox Group.  It has been fun to branch out and continue to serve my community well with better resources, technology and training.  This has been a tremendous year of growth for me, reaching over 16 million in sales.  I feel blessed and honored to be working is such a great community with a solid company behind me.

We really love Golden.  We now have two daughters ages 14 and 17.  We love them a lot which I think annoys them a little bit!  We love hiking, biking, swimming in Clear Creek, eating at local restaurants, enjoying the outdoors with friends, escaping to the mountains, and getting involved in community service.  Our story led us here, and we feel like what we are doing now in Golden is a result of all the different experience we have had up to this time.  Real estate has been a great fit for me, as I love to show hospitality, to host new families and help folks find their refuge.  I enjoy helping people dream about their future and find places that truly fit them and their story.  I have had so much fun meeting new friends and neighbors as a result of being in real estate.  I look forward to continuing to grow in my skills, helping families and individuals find their home and reach their goals.

Ok, how about you?  Who else wants to share their story.
